Final Exams
Old news from Fall Final exams for Fall have been graded, course grades have been reported to the registrar, and the distribution of course grades is now shown on the page of past grade distributions. Roughly forty extra-credit essays were submitted between pm Monday 2 December and the deadline am Tuesday 3 December All of them arrived so shortly before the deadline that students' correction and re-submission was not feasible whereas resubmission had been easy for submissions that began in late September and had continued across the subsequent two months.
Study Tips for UGA Students
Many of the errors in submissions were those about which warnings had been posted on the web page about the assignment. The Powerpoint file linked for Lecture 26 has been updated with better sound. Three of students took advantage of the opportunity described below for a lab visit to see research of the sort on which this course depends. Rather than a field trip, Railsback's GEOL offers an optional not required lab visit in which students see stalagmites used in paleoclimate research and see some of the equipment used to sample the stalagmites. Four times for visits are available: am and pm on November 7, , and November 12, The opportunity can be expanded to see the mass spectrometer in the Department of Geology's Stable Isotope Laboratory too.

If a student experiences significant personal hardship, SCO can approve a hardship withdrawal from all courses in the term. The deadline for final approval of a hardship withdrawal by SCO is the withdrawal deadline of the semester following the semester for which the hardship withdrawal is sought e. A hardship withdrawal cannot ordinarily be used to withdraw selectively from some courses while remaining enrolled in other courses. Selective withdrawal will be permitted only under exceptional circumstances. SCO will not process any hardship withdrawals between the last day of classes and the first day of the subsequent semester due to final exams and grades processing.

Students should be mindful of this in regards to academic status, financial aid eligibility, or any other processes that involve an end of semester checkpoint.

If the hardship withdrawal process is not complete by the withdrawal deadline of the following semester, a student must appeal for a retroactive hardship withdrawal from the Educational Affairs Committee. To learn more about that process, students should contact the Office of Instruction appeals uga. Potential Impacts of Withdrawals Students should be aware that receiving a hardship withdrawal or a retroactive hardship withdrawal may affect their statuses with various university entities. It is the responsibility of the students to contact other university offices to determine how the decision to withdraw may affect them. The impact on financial aid may include, but is not limited to, mandatory repayment of already disbursed funds.
